Gut health

    Gut Health

Most of us understand that gut health is essential for our wellbeing, but in reality we know this on an intellectual level, yet have no idea how to translate this into our lives and just what effects the health of our guts have on us.

Our lifestyle habits, without us knowing it are destroying our gut health and often it takes a catastrophic event or a complete breakdown in our gut health before we address this and do anything about it.

In todays world we often are under stress, we don't get enough sleep, need to use antibiotics, drink alcohol to elevate our stress, have a sedentary work life and lack enough physical exercise. These lifestyle choices are all contributing factors on the integrity of our gut.

On top of these lifestyle factors our diets plays an integral part in ensuring we can maintain our gut health. Imbalance occurs when there are too many harmful bacteria and not enough friendly bacteria. When we have set up this imbalance it can often lead to chronic and inflammatory diseases such as insulin resistance, weight gain, obesity, inflammatory bowel disease, and colorectal cancer.

We can effect our guts in a positive way by living a healthy lifestyle, engaging in regular physical activity, learning ways to lower stress, and commence eating a diet diverse in variety and full of gut promoting foods. This ensures that we give our gut the best chance of surviving the modern world.
